LEO funding is bringing an enterprise culture to the young people in the districts of Ashfield, Mansfield and Bolsover.
The aim of preparing them for the world of work and giving them an insight into what running a business is all about.
The funding has brought The Enterprise Academy, a national initiative, to the three districts. The Enterprise Academy is a project designed to develop enterprise and business skills with both teachers and pupils at the schools.
The Enterprise Academy provides a world of supported learning and uses the best in local talent to foster enterprise and business skills in both the teachers and pupils. The scheme was launched in partnership with six focus schools in 2007/08 with three more schools coming on steam in 2008/09.
The six focus schools are: Sutton Centre Community College and Holgate School in Ashfield; Bolsover School and Shirebrook School in Bolsover; and Queen Elizabeth Endowed School and The Manor School in Mansfield

The initial phase of work for these schools included enterprise-focused student workshops, enterprise training for teachers, on-going consultancy with teachers. The project will culminate with an Enterprise Challenge event in March 2009.
The Enterprise Academy is being run by Mansfield-based ‘no limits’ an organisation that is experienced in and passionate about developing learning that raises aspirations and achievement amongst young people, helping to equip them for the challenges of the business world.
One of the initiatives launched by the Academy was a ‘Dragon’s Den’ type contest for teams from each participating school.
