Property Ladder

When it first starts, a new business will usually require small, cost effective premises that do not involve a long term commitment.  As it grows, the business will require larger premises to enable it to house a greater number of employees and/or equipment.

In the districts of Ashfield, Mansfield and Bolsover, there are some types of business premises where demand far outstrips supply. When a business gets to the point in its development where it needs  premises of this type and size, it could be forced to look elsewhere and ultimately be lost to the area. 

The property ladder project aims to identify these property types and do whatever it can to fill the gaps in the market. 

The project has, to date, concentrated on the provision of fully equipped office “incubation centres” designed for new start-up businesses and suitable for between one and four people. 

A number of these have been cost-effectively created by converting existing buildings.  The project is now looking to fill other gaps in the property market and small workshop units are the next target premises type.
