Wedding fayre goes with a fizz
The first Ashfield Bizfizz Wedding Fayre, held at Mansfield Hosiery Mills recently was a tremendous success.
With the average UK wedding costing over £12,000, the wedding industry is a highly lucrative market and over 30 businesses from the Ashfield area exhibited at the fayre, offering everything a blushing bride could need to make her day that extra bit special.
The event was designed to showcase what local businesses have to offer and also to provide them with an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of their products and meet new customers.
Exhibitors included:
• Aromatique Beaute
• Balloons any occasions
• Barret and Co. Photography
• Beauty by Body Beautiful
• C8ter - Organic Wedding Caterer

Ruth Welton of Rubyroos in Hucknall said: “The Fayre has given my business a real boost – I’ve already taken four bookings.”
A sensational catwalk show gave guests a preview of this season’s wedding chic. It featured everything from bespoke gowns and corsetry from Angels Carrying Savage Weapons to classic, elegant couture and designer looks supplied by Couture at Lillies.
Not to be left out, there were also outfits for gorgeous groomsmen, also supplied by Lillies, and glamorous gowns for the mother of the bride from DollyBirds Clothing.
Bride-to-be Lisa Collins of Kirkby in Ashfield said: “Planning a wedding is stressful enough without having to travel long distances to talk to suppliers or trawl the internet for hours on end. I had no idea there was so much choice on my doorstep – I will definitely be buying locally.”
All the exhibitors generously donated raffle prizes with all proceeds being donated to local man Graham Pigeon from Sutton in Ashfield. Graham was a roadie with former Spandau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley for 10 years but last November he suffered a brain tumour. Tony Hadley launched an appeal to help and the money raised at the fayre went to the appeal.
The good news is that, after a seven hour operation, the tumour was successfully removed and ‘Big G’ is improving steadily.
