Wedding Fair Success for Warsop

Warsop’s local businesses proved that they could compete with the best, as they got together to stage their first ever Wedding Fair – declared by all a resounding success.

Prospective brides with friends and families flocked to the beautifully staged event, held at the John Fretwell Complex in Warsop last weekend, to revel in a stunning range of 27 specialist services and products to enhance their own big day.

The event was sponsored and organised by LEO – the Local Enterprise Organisation that has provided free local business support to over half of the businesses on show - and the John Fretwell Sporting Centre that provided the ‘magically’ decorated venue.

Two 20 minute fashion shows were staged to a packed house – showcasing bridal wear from Rebecca-Ann Bridals, Mother of the Bride and evening wear by Francesca Paige and Menswear by Greenwoods of Mansfield. Volunteer models took to the catwalk and revelled in the limelight before an audience delighted by the stunning clothing range presented with an exciting soundtrack and lighting show from yet another local specialist company - Digital Disco’s.

LEO’s Business Coach, Suzy Rai, worked for months with local businesses – including many start-ups that she had been supporting along their business journey – to plan the event.

“I’m as delighted as everyone involved,” said Suzy “it’s so good for an area like Warsop to show what its capable of producing. We’ve got so many quality businesses offering quality services and products, and all of our local businesses involved in the wedding industry have pulled out all the stops and come up with the goods for this event!”

Around half of the exhibitors were Warsop based, with the rest coming from the Mansfield, Ashfield and Bolsover districts. It is hoped that this event will serve as a springboard for the local business community to get together more often, build in confidence and thrive in their locality.

“LEO has found the event a fantastic opportunity to work in-depth with a large group of local business people – all learning new skills and methods to project an extremely professional image at such a crucial stage of their businesses.” Continued Suzy, “This is just one way that LEO helps local people to build sustainable businesses with the capacity to grow.”
